Democratic Candidate for Governor Wants
Big Brother to Control Your Children!
Congressman Bonior teams up with
Senator Kennedy to pass the Equity in Prescription Insurance and
Contraceptive Coverage Act (EPICC) to force all health insurance
plans to subsidize FDA approved contraceptive pills and devices.
In addition to violating religious liberty and an individual's
right of conscience, this law undermines parents and expands state
and federal government control of American children's sexual and
reproductive health.
If Senator Kennedy's bill (S. 104), and Congressman
Bonior's sponsored bill (H.R. 1111) passes, President Bush will
be forced to use his veto power or every private and public health
insurance plan that has prescription coverage, will force employers
and individuals, through taxes and insurance premiums, to confidentially
fund unhealthy and morally objectionable chemicals and devices
for children, without parental consent or knowledge.
S. 104 and H.R. 1111 are in direct conflict
with ERISSA, the federal law which frees self-insured health plans
from state mandates in the twenty states that passed EPICC.
If Americans do not unite and provide the leadership needed to
defeat EPICC, what will employers and individuals be forced to
pay for next? Euthanasia, artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization,
cloning, coverage for non-married and same sex partners!
This bill is not about choice nor protection
of women's health. It is about state and federal control of our
children and what we finance in health care. This is a Totalitarian
agenda, proposed by Planned Parenthood and the Alan Guttmacher
Institute in "Uneven and Unequal Insurance Coverage and Reproductive
Health Services" in 1993 and Improving the Fit Reproductive
Health Services in Managed Care Settings" in 1996.
By passing EPICC, legislators in twenty states
have undermined a parent's right to shape the conscience of their
children and most of our legislators have been manipulated to
believe it is about women's health.
America prides itself on assuring parents the opportunity to raise
children, without government intrusion and interference. A nation
with the greatest political freedom is being undermined by a few
powerful political interest groups.
At this critical time, when the health and welfare
of the American family, our Nation's future and our political
freedom are at stake, Congressman Bonior needs to do as he claims
and shoot straight. He needs to explain why he is sponsoring such
insidious legislation.
The Christus Medicus Foundation (CMF) is a not-for-profit
organization that acts as a watchdog for the rights of children,
parents and health care payers. Its mission is to assure American's
a "conscientious choice" in what they pay for in health
plans.
